Hi Gang,
My name is Jason, I've been practicing bass since the early 80's. I started with a old school blues musician (Chuck Dudley in Stamford, CT) teaching me Mel Bay 12 bar blues. Then I stumbled upon a guy in Norwalk who was taking lessons from Linc Chamberland and he passed on some of his modal theory stuff on to me. Lastly I took lessons from a University educated music major, who expanded on that by applying the major / minor, 4ths and 5ths stuff to actual songs I wanted to learn, kind of put it all together for me.
Recently picked up a Fender VB Nat acoustic 5 string and it's just perfect for unplugged practicing, I just can't put it down. Never been in a band, really, but now I'm taking it kind of seriously, working up a setlist and shopping for a cab.
I'll get around to an actual post on the subject but if anyone has a recommended string set for the VB Nat I'd love to know. My contact at Sweetwater asked the Fender rep and they don't have a record of the OEM strings.
