MEC'S In A 1987 Ibanez?

Hey guys, I have a 1987 Japaneese Ibanez Roadstar II Bass guitar and im looking to re-do it.
I love the tone of warwicks (Streamer,Thumb) and was thinking of installing an Aguilar OPB3 Pre and two Jazz style MEC's, was just wondering if anyone could give me a bit of guidance?
Is the Warwick growl and thump all in the wood or electronics? I suspect my Ibanez is probably Alder or Ash so im not sure if I'll get the same tone?

Most of a warwick's signature sound comes from the (heavy) woods they use IMO.

Yeah was thinking so thanks man, I saw a Warwick Corvette 5 string for 400 euro's, I presume its a Korean made model with thge bubinga body and ovangcol neck, what you reckon a good buy?
