In my state of MA the winners are not allowed to stay anonymous - it becomes public record with photos and everything.

I did not know that when I bought the ticket. Imagine the nightmare that would cause - it would cause you to worry about your safety and basically force you to move away.

I'm almost glad I didn't win.

Winning tickets in Maryland, Illinois and Kansas.

I'm glad there are at least three winning tickets and I hope that at least 1 or 2 are pools with dozens of people. I'm a firm believer in the "money is like manure" theory - it is great when spread around but stinks if left in a big pile.


If we hear that GregC bought the Lakland factory, I'll have a pretty good idea of who the Illinois winner is. :D

I wonder how it is in NH. That's not right. I should have the right to stay anonymous. I've read a few stories about people who won a very large amount and were robbed and even killed in some cases.

I'm just going nuts over these media idiots saying that the woman who let the winner go ahead of her has no hard feelings. Well, I hope the hell not! If she had not let the winner go ahead of her, she still wouldn't have won the lotto. First, the quick picks are based on a random number generator. The odds against her getting the same numbers at a different time are at least as high as those against winning the lotto. Second, ticket sales nationwide can be 50 per second when the jackpot is that high. So at least a hundred tickets would have been sold elsewhere if there were just two seconds difference in the time the winner bought the ticket and when the kind lady would've bought hers.

It's such a stupid concept that right now I have to go relieve my incredulity in the only way I know how - interpretive dance.
