Thanks, Che, for making me feel much better about my own current circumstances.

That is remaining mortgage (after a year) + student loan debt. I just meant it is very small relative to the total sum awarded, and that I would have a HECK of a lot remaining after becoming debt-free.

+1 - I forgot about hiring my favorite bands. I'm sure they would all gripe about having a local yokel amateur bassist (me) sit in , but I imagine an extra amount added to the contract would fix that.

- Pay of the house.
- Buy a bigger house for the DB I've always wanted to buy but can't fit in my present house.
- Finish paying for the kids' college
- Buy them and my parents homes.
- Indulge my passions for very fast cars, very fast motorcycles, very fast airplanes and very slow boats.
- Travel, travel, travel.
- Go back to school and get a bunch of degrees in subjects that interest me but are completely useless for supporting a family.
- Endow a chair at my alma mater
- Give a ton to my favorite charities

how do you know this? A random number generator, like used in quick picks often duplicate number combinations, leaving other combinations untouched.

I just heard it in conversation at the post office.

Not tickets purchased literally just the combinations of numbers paid out to people. There are only so many combinations of numbers and at some point all of them have to be purchased by someone. At the rate tickets are being purchased I wouldn't doubt it. It's up to $640 Mill now.

Seriously... +1 to getting a good lawyer, accountant, and investment advisor. Then:
* Create some foundations for cancer, HIV, autism, and other research
* Donate lots of money to my alma mater, Oklahoma State
* Donate money to my son's school so they can build a gym (they currently don't have one)
* Custom-build a house with a state-of-the-art recording studio
* Start a record label and put out some good music

There is a bar in Louisville, Ky called The Holy Grail that is a somewhat gutted church. It is beautiful.

I don't really play lotto too much....except occasional scratch offs and when it gets stupid high like this.

I bought one last week when it was 363 mil, put in $3, got $2 back...used one for this weeks $640 mil. If i win, great, if not, well, I don't really think I'll be that lucky.

It's insane how much people put into it though....I work in a shop where we have the lotto. I probably sell nor more than $200-$300 of tickets a day, but lately it's been low thousands....I've seen people come in and put down $150 on this one....

1 in 175,711,536 - I don't know how to calculate the odds, but the odds are pretty easy to find on the Massachusetts Lottery site.

With the cash option at 462 million and the after-tax at 277 million, it is better than an even-money bet which doesn't happen that often with the lottery.

Even though it is a good bet from a risk/reward standpoint, it is still an incredible long-shot not an investment strategy. There was an article about an NBA rookie who put down $10,000 on this weeks drawing. Since he makes $1,485,000 he can afford to lose that much but still.........
