MEGA scam!

Ebay scam...I think this is the biggest one I've seen yet.

Aria SB-CB Cliff Burton model reissue.

They're asking $5,000.
It lists for $1600 & sells for about $1280.

Oh, but they're throwing in an "authentic Metallica pick."
Must be one helluva pick!

Well, not really a scam - if you want to spend this kind of money it's your own fault if you don't check what the price should be first, and sellers are free to ask whatever price they feel like for what they're selling.

But a ridiculous price, that's for sure...!

Good thing I've always preferred Newsted's tone to Burton's. That means I can just get one of those Sadowskys instead of this...

I just watched the video on that ebay ad (Cliff 'em all) and I had forgotten how insane Cliff was. That was great.

At the end of the vide, when Kirk is doing those ending licks, notice that guy in the background walking down the stairs of the staduim. He takes a few steps then starts hopping down with both feet....all by himself with NO one else around in that area....weird...

I would, given the opportunity to talk to the seller face to face: sneer disgustedly at them and shake my head disapprovingly, and walk away.

It's not a "scam" exactly, but they try to imply that Burton played this specific bass ("This guitar was played by the bass player.") plus the pick, the "band that likes black", "message for the whole story", the pics and video etc. etc. They are not perjuring themselves in print but they are setting up a gullible buyer to fill in the rest of the story in their minds, and bid on something a bit different from what the seller actually has.

Thanks for the link and the post. I needed a good laugh today. The seller is hoping to snag some obsessive Metallica fan with deep pockets. The sad thing is that there is a chance they might find somebody with money to burn. It's much like what goes on in the KISS fan club/collector universe.

You are correct...so don't EVER think that collectors won't pay a totally outrageous price for something you have that they want, because THEY WILL
