Hey does anyone know if the replacements jewel light lens sold on allparts will fit on my m9? It says they're for Fender amps but I'm hoping they're standard.

Mesa Boogie M9 Megathread: Pt II

Has anyone tried the M9 with an Accugroove cab? I'm specifically interested in the Tri-115.

I owned this cab briefly last year and used it with my M9. It's a nice cab but not worth the insane prices they command. Ver inefficient but that's not a problem with an M9 as it has so much power to spare. I found the Tri-115 simply underwhelming. I imagine a pair of them would have been pretty sweet but much preferred the tone and punch of the Mesa Powerhouse 115. I kept the M9 and sold the cab.
Nothing wrong with the Tri-115 but left me uninspired.

If you are using your foot switch with your M9, could you describe how and why you deploy that baby? Just getting curious. I have not even tried mine since getting the amp well over a year ago. It has suddenly dawned on me it might be useful. 
I do use the GEQ, but have recently encountered rooms were my ultra-dubby EQ curve had to be shut off in favor of voice 3 or 4. Anyone automating this kind of change? Should I bother?

I've never used pedals or footswitches as part of my personal repertoire.

I trim the bottom two bands of the GEQ, pretty much in all circumstances.

I have used to use it to switch between 2 separate sounds on the fly by switching the geq on and off. I would set the eq for mid boost, which would allow for a volume increase/ gnarlier tone on certain covers. I don't need the mute 'cause I use a Planet Waves pedal in front of the head.

Yeah, especially lowest one.
I use a Sansamp ParaDI as a pre for my upright, and have used an EBS Multi-Comp with various headsthese don't get used with the M9.

No, the stock pedal is only geq on/off and mute on/off
Chef suggested that a specialy outfit like Putnam Guitars might be able to make a FS that would also control the voicings, but it wouldn't be worth it for me to spill cake on a that. YMMV

One cool thing you can do with voicing switches is use multiple voices simultaneously. I never actually used that trick with a band, but found some pretty crazy sounds at home that way (I just did it using an old random footswitch I had laying around my house with my M6). If the M9 is like the M6, the footswitch would need a 1/4" male insert for each voice, which would be a very odd custom pedal design! I do seem to remember at least one person that had one made for their M6 as Chef mentioned. I didn't find switching between voices to be all that useful personally, as their is no way to equalize volume between them...
WARNING... I heard the M9 is going to have a price increase on February 1st from $1349 to $1599. So if your planning on buying one, do it very soon or it's going to cost you a little longer in the pocket!

Looks like most online retailers are selling the M9 for $1549-1599 now.... That is a huge jump!
Still a great amp for $1549, but what justified a 15-20% jump overnight?
The same justification for a dawg lickin' his jewels......'cause he can. I guess demand remains high, and as an M9 lover, I get why. I hafta say I still think a product of this caliber, made in the USA by a relatively small business, is something I am happy to buy and own. I also recently tried a little tube rolling in the M9, although prev posts had stated others found no differences. I tried about a half a dozen tubes and they all sounded the same except for an old Amperex, which breaks up thicker and a bit earlier to my ear. Since there's so much headroom in this beast the earlier breakup is not a disadvantage, so the Amperex stayed and the others went back in the toy box.
Good to know.... I was about to try an EHX and a couple of older tubes I have kicking around.....
Just want to underline that I tried 8 different tubes, and only 1 seemed to make a meaningful difference. Others have posted that they were unable to hear any differences. Definitely worth trying out.....and posting
Do you guys know that using any tube other than a Mesa Boogie Tube voids the warranty with Mesa???
Not to mention, their tube sounds great. That's what makes the amp so good to begin with, it made you fall in in love and buy it. Why would you start messing around with it like a guitar player would and change what is already perfect!!!

I can't see that voiding the warranty, but I don't know for sure.
I have a few extra tubes lying around from other amps that I might try for fun... Likely won't do it until my original tube dies.
Question for all.... Can a single preamp tube make much of a difference in general? Lomo posted above.... Anyone else out there try and notice a difference?
