Mesa/Boogie Owners

I'd love to after hearing so many good things about it, but there aren't any available around here for the time being. I may even hold out for the M9. I really liked the Walkabout combo, despite not being satisfied with the tones of my Titan when I had it.

I may go back to Mesa yet :D I'll likely look into the M9 and MPulse 600. The Walkabout was way too cool when I played a Lakland Joe Osborne 4-string through it.

I've owned two m-pulse 600s... first one with a PH210/PH115; and now after a bought of Edenitis, another through a Diesel 115 and soon a PH 212.

I play in a roots rock band with a punk rock undertow and in more an experimental trip/hop/rock group.

I like to alternate between a thick meaty old school tone, a more clear modern (with more treble in the mix) and a heavier dub kind of tone. The m-pulse 600 does it all.

i've got the Ampeg SVT-410HE. it was only 300$ used which is a pretty good deal i guess but my amp sounds alot nicer through better cabs.
have you had the same problem?

I mostly play hiphop, reggae, jazz, alt/indie rock, and soul; my next amps are likely going to be SWR or Eden.

K-Funk, I would recommend the M-Pulse 600 for playing on the hip hop/soul tip. I think it the most versatile of the mesa line-up.

Edit: I've seen Rhonda Smith (Prince) play through a pair of M-Pulse 600 and four(!) 2x15 cabs. She gets a pretty dang good soul tone IMO.

i agree. i have an mp600 and i play funk rock blues afro beat jazz and i just started playing with an r&b band. it works really well for all of these which seem to be some what in line with the stuff ur playing (k-Funk).

Bass 400 plugged into the old Mesa diesel 215 and 1516 cabs.
Play hard rock in my main band. I've owned this since '91, and played with a couple acoustic/indie-rock guys occasionally off and on, and did play punk and lots of metal in my youth, and did a stint for 3yrs playing country.
This truly has been a very versatile amp, and the tone leaves nothing else to be desired.

I've been observing and occasionally posting on TB for a few years now. It seems that different amp and cabinet manufacturers get a lot of buzz every year or so. It used to be Eden... then GB... but never Mesa... until now. I am glad to see Mesa Boogie get some much deserved buzz here on TB...:cool:

The MPulse 600 is not a bigger Walkabout...if that's what you want.

So far, for me, the M6 is the Holy Grail of tone.
It works for rock, blues, jazz, whatever. Big, solid, fast, clean...I haven't met a cab it didn't like. Heck, it even likes my double bass.

Roger aye skippy. I have a Mesa BB V-12, and it's good either through the PH 4x10 (full Mesa treatment; a refined Ampeg SVT sorta sound) or through Avatar (budget, but decent 'colorless' cabinets).

I love my Boogie. It's a 12" Walkabout combo that sounds amazing, plenty loud and it's LIGHT! YAHOO! I have an extension 12" Walkabout as well, so I can stack 'em if I ever need to move more air. So far I've never had the need for more volume though. This little monster KICKS!

I'm playing classic rock, blues and original pop rock on an EBMM Sterling. Great tone. Can't go wrong there!

Change the tubes if you hear some microphonics or pream-tube noises, but if you using 15 hours/week your amp, change the tubes in less than two years. If you bought your amp used, you should change the tubes for new ones and make a note about the date when you changed. Two Mesa preamp tubes (12AX7) around 30-40 bux from dealer.
Tip: this is a kinda surgery :) so try using rubber glows when changing the tubes, do not touch them with hands&fingers, even when taking out from the box.
I am using M Pulse 600 with Power House 4x10, love it! planning to get a 2x10 or 1x15 as well, but yet not necessary, this setup still can be very-very loud!
Folk rock-pop and prog metal here.

The V12 will drive 2 X 2 X 15" very well indeed and the speakers will
last a long time instead of a short time with only one cab.
The speakers thermal rating is not a good sound.
Careful with that beast, Huge dynamics its very good at over excurting drivers.

I love my Walkabout Combo it handles everything I can throw at it from jazz, backing up acoustics to progressive rock. I play Jazz basses, P-basses and a 4003 and the unique tone of each bass comes through beautifully. I've played a lot of amp/cab and combos over the years and the Mesa beats em all. I mic it in isolation booth in the studio and it always blows engineers away. I only wish I had gone for the 8 ohm so I could add an extension cab to it on occassion.
