Mesa Boogie subway cabinets

Also posted this pic in the Subway thread - these cabs are incredible, and they worked their magic again last night.
By the way. I got my first use of the wd 800 amp as far as playing in public this morning. This amp is the closest in feel and tone of any class D amp I have owned. Even beating the Fender bassman 800. Of course I played the Mesa through the bassman 610 cabinet. I accidentally tore the tolex loading it this morning though. It won't affect how it sounds and can be fixed but it puts that thought in my head that I need a Mesa Subway 410. Lol. Partially joking or am I?
For what it's worth, I had a Fender Pro Bassman Neo 610 and felt it didn't have the depth or a nice low end compared to other speakers I tried. I was totally willing to carry that larger cab but not if it didn't hit it for me. It did not. The Subways are among the best designed Neo cabinets I've experienced. I'm resistant to recommend making a purchase without trying things first, but I definitely think it's worth trying the Subway 115's and having 2 of them. If the 215 is practical for you, that's probably the best Neo cabinet I've experienced. I would expect a noticeable difference with a head like the WD. For what it's worth, my experience is that driver size is almost irrelevant… each speaker has its own response based on design. So, it's best to hear the cabs first. But, the Subway 115's are a great bet if you're coming from a 610.

I tried the SW112, 210 and 115 and by far prefer the SW115. I have a pair of them. Easy to move at 37 pounds and they are the most hi fi sounding bass cabinets I have ever heard. I am astonished at the full range sound they produce. They are very musical sounding cabinets.
My local pal and co-conspirator Daddymactx has one SW115 and a SW215. He also uses a Bergantino 310 cabinet with great results.
I have an Aguilar GS112 that I use at church usually with my D-800+. Sounds great and the sound man helps me to sound good in the house mix. I also have a GK NEO IV 112 that I purchased recently. I used it on a recent gig with my D-350 and it sounded very good. I am pleased with that 30 pound cabinet.
The Subway 112 is voiced with very pronounced mids. That works for a lot of players but it did not work for me., I tried to love that cabinet and have owned two of them. The SW210 sounded very..neutral? The 210 cabinets I have used in the past had a very detailed tone that was great in the mix. The SW210 I had lacked that presence in the mix. As a comparison, my favorite 210 cabinet that I have used was the Eden 210 XLT. Really a great sounding cabinet but no longer practical since they weigh 55 pounds.
I play jazz and one of my bands plays a variety of music by all sorts of bands/musicians including Boneshakers, Robben Ford, Steely Dan, Donny Hathaway, Pat Martino, Stevie Wonder, James Taylor and others. The SW115 with the D-800+ or WD-800 is perfect for that band in the various venues we play.
Some bass gear manufacturers seem to design gear that all fits a certain set of parameters. Andy, on the other hand, has designed each piece of Subway gear with a specific sonic goal in mind. The result is that there is a Mesa Subway bass amp/cabinet that is nearly perfect for every bass player. My remarks about the SW210 and SW112 are to explain only my experience and I quickly add that those cabinets are favorites of other players who have different sonic goals. It is highly recommended that you audition the equipment and make the decision of what suits you. I know that this is sometimes not possible, however, some online stores have a very generous return policy should you feel the need to return gear that does not work well for you.

You are correct. I looked it up and the nominal weight is 68 pounds. Those cabs are very heavy but they do sound great.
