Mesa Boogie Walkabout Combo

The Carvin is nice enough, but will sound *nothing* like the Walkabout.

There are many, many amps/preamps with tubes in them that do "not very much."
The Carvin is one of those. Nice enough sounding rig, but I'd never call it tube sounding.

The Walkabout, on the other hand, is very tube sounding, especially as you turn up input gain.

Can you recommend me a bass combo not so expensive and is tube? Or a solid state with tube warmth in the 500- 700 range? :-) also 1 that doesn't have a loud fan!

No, I really can't.
The only sensible thing to do is get out and play some stuff.

You might like the new Ampeg portaflex stuff.
They sound nicely vintage. No tubes in there though, if that's of importance to you.

I recently bought an Ampeg PF350 and as a devote Mesa Walkabout user, I did a direct comparison using the Mesa Radiator 12 cab. The PF350's tone is very usable but when compared to the WA it doesn't sound tubey at all. It has a much more modern quick and deep low end about it. It's a real nice amp though but a little less versitile to the WA and not as vintage sounding to me.

I bet! The price is a lot cheaper then a WA
