Mesa Boogie Walkabout Mega-thread Part 10

Thanks for your review, I hoped it was for you but every setup is different. Maybe in your case it can work well into a parallel fx loop (blender style) which keep your clean harmonics and add it to the overdrive....?
You're very welcome. Thanks for coaxing me to give it a try! :)
Had a great time with it… probably made the neighbors mad at me. :bag:
I used it with my Badger Schism XV, parallel loop, but it minimized the output to a trickle. I am hoping someone chimes in on why that happened. :bookworm:
But even if I could get it work in the loop, it's still too aggressive for what I'd use it for. :D

I don't think so :) It is on the way heavier side!
This is a 90's 2x15" maybe using EV speakers.
Ta.

Oh it's one cab. I thought it was two, one on top of the other.
That'll teach me to look a bit closer. I can see now it's one cab after taking a second look as a result of your post.

Fukin' heavy as you say. I wouldn't fancy carting that about. Not at my age anyway - like the rest of the 'more mature' folks on here though, I probably wouldn't have given it any consideration in my younger days.

Hmmm, I can't see why it dosn't give result with this blender pedal. If you have access to a two channel amp (svt , Fender, ect) or a small mixing board, try to blend clean and overdrive sound for fun. Have you play with the phase switch on your blender pedal? It sound like a phase problem maybe.

Just to let you know, I use it for give me a very vintage tube amp sound but at higher power, I am very old school with a Pbass...

Yeah she’s the boss! I saw her play a few times with Entrance Band and she kills it (and looks amaaaazing doing it too)
Yes, she's a fantastic player, also gifted with a fantastic pair of legs.

Paz on her Walkabout . . .

'“It has an awesome DI, is easy to carry around for smaller shows – it’s super, super light and sounds great. People always say it sounds great but they can hardly see anything on stage. I love, love, love that amp,”

Mystery to me! I tried the switching the phase. It was def worse inverted. I was talking to a friend this afternoon and thought perhaps it's somewhat but not completely out of phase. I dunno. I'm at a loss.
I don't have any other amps to try.
You probably get more range out of it with a passive bass.
Either way, it's on its way back to the dealer.

Nice try! Better luck next time. :-)

I am in the process of replacing my 4 ohm Scout 12" speaker with the 8 ohm (official Mesa replacement) speaker and I need some help.

Best I can tell, I remove the front grill, unscrew the 8 screws around the speaker, and then lift out the speaker from the front. Right? The problem is the speaker won't budge. It's like it's stuck to the front baffle. Before I start attempting to pry it out, I want to make sure I'm not doing something stupid here (highly possible).

You may need to take a putty knife blade and wiggle it under the speaker lip to break the seal. This is not uncommon, be careful.

If your original 4 ohm driver is good, there are folks looking for exact replacements.

In your experience what is the life of the passive radiator relative to an active speaker in a cab like the WA? Obviously it has no electrical elements like the main driver, but does the suspension or cone tend to deteriorate/fatigue to the point it impacts the sound/voicing/articulation of the cab at some point?

I figured this was the case, but I wanted to be sure before I started rooting around. That speaker has been in there for about 15 years, so not surprising that is sticking. I will proceed carefully. Thanks much for the info.

Mine had a foam seal that went the circumference or the speaker. With adhesive on both sides (speaker and cabinet) it was a bit difficult to break loose but I finally got it off. Here's my post:

Good question. If it has the cloth surround, the life expectancy is probably 30+ years, if it has a foam surround, I don't know what it might be. If somebody posts a photo I can identify the surround type.
