If you're thinking a single 112 will cover your volume needs, the Walkabout combo cab is actually a decent choice. It certainly makes for a convenient load-in.

Of course, you might be leaning for a more modern tone for church service.

When going single 12 it is what I use.

It might actually. I've never really tried to compare volume, just the tone.
The WA Scout 12 fills the room nicely- I s'pose the passive radiator adds to this- & only once did I not take enough cabs to be loud enough, therefore pushing the WA 12" almost to its breaking point. But I've not done the same with the AE112

I sure like my Walkabout with these bad boys!

Hey Crabby;
how do the PH 112's compare tonally to the WA scout? More mid focus? Weight? thinking of making a 112 "mini stack" and haven't tried any ph 112's...

Based on my experience with the AE212, I'd guess the AE112 would get a noticeably louder than the Scout cab, no?

It may get louder but I doubt it'll sound as deep. My Audiokinesis TC12 gets about as loud as 1.5 Scout 12s, but I have yet to hear another stock 12 that is tuned as low as a Scout. A fEarful 12 is, but at 8 Ohms would not be a great match for a WA. At lowish volumes (up to "mellow drummer" level), the Scout is my favorite 12. At louder volumes I find it usually needs some eq/ bass subtraction.

Is there any issue with stacking a Scout combo on a Scout extension cab with respect to the passive radiator? I played a Walkabout combo tonight and I really, really liked it. Was considering an 8 ohm combo and an extension cab. That would cover anything I'll ever play. If I need more I'll rent an SVT.

In my experience, it seemed that the stack resulted in less low end content as compared to sitting the combo and extension side by side. Still sounded great overall!

Thanks all! I guess when I think about it when it's sitting on the floor it isn't magically levitating 6" off the ground so it would be a similar amount of clearance between the floor and sitting on top of another cabinet. Appreciate it!

No issue at all. I stack my Radiator 12 on the bottom and the combo on top all the time. I did notice that I got more low end when placed side by side but the truth is, you won't want for more low end with these cabs/combos.

I know this is a WA fanboy thread (and I'm in:p) but quite honestly, if you are considering the PH112 stack, you really ought to consider the Audiokinesis Thunderchild as well. At 4 Ohms with "super" woofer (3012LF) and horn mid, mine weighs 33lbs ans is as loud as 1.5 Scout or PH 12s. It's not tuned as low as the Scout 12, though. It can handle the full 300 watts the WA pumps with ease, even if with aggressive eq changes.
Cost a couple hundy more than the Mesa cabs and requires patience/wait time.

As to the differences between stacking or not stacking a Scout and a Radiator... the differences are of the 'subtle shadings' variety. Still plenty of low end to be had when stacking, but when not floor coupling both of the passive radiators you have at your disposal, it is a noticeable difference to my ears.
Might even prove a useful configuration option for 'difficult' rooms!
