THAT is a hall of fame piece of work that is! Congrats & make it sound as good as it looks.(&more pic angles please) ;)

Ya know I never thought about that, maybe 'cause I'm not a Fedora and pointy 'gator shoes kinda guy......I'm much more of a hoodie and jeans bassist. In any event, this combo is living room furniture for my domestic jams and practice. When I play the Walkabout out, it's a head sitting on an Audiokinesis TC112. It's clearer, louder, lighter and more portable. I must say, though, that at lower (non drummer) volumes the Scout cab kills.

This passed Mrs. Lomo's "pretty enough to sit permanently in the living room" test.

Oh Wow! And to think you can use it as bass amplification as well. I would rather look at this than TV!! You know the way a wife decides to talk at a key moment in sport and you go "shussh" Could you get away with "Can't you see I'm looking at my combo?"

Was this a special order and do you plan getting a twin in wine since it is 8 Ohm?

Of course it was a special order, and I have to say the Mesa Custom Shop is very impressive in terms of quality. I have no plans for an ext cab. 8 Ohms is fine as a Scout 12 can only handle 150 true watts anyway (regardless of what the sales dude says). If I wanted an ext cab I'd have ordered it simultaneously: Mesa clearly advises that because the special coverings (this is a croc embossed wine leather) are a bit variable from batch to batch. The finish is even nicer in person....I just hope Mrs Lomo doesn't try to turn it into a purse. Now if she wants to make some lingerie out of it....well...that's another story....:p:hyper::hyper::hyper:

I've been itching to do something like this, and I could drive up and pick it up. How much more did it cost for the customness?

It's very pricey. When I ordered this combo (3 mo ago), IIRC it was about 150 additional for custom vinyl, 300 for leather, even more for wood, and 150 for a wicker cane grille. Those upcharges are on top of the usual price. The handle and corner choices (blk or tan) and tan or blk grille are no cost specs. You'd have to call Mesa for current, accurate pricing. I have no problem with the cost. These are 1-off pieces of the highest build quality. The wood finish options are also off the chain (check the gallery on the Mesa site). I asked if they'd put 2 side-mounted handles on it instead of the single top handle but was told they do not change the design in any way, only the finish.

Lomo, that is a gorgeous Walkabout! Nothing beats a Scout cab for lower volume jamming in my experience. I love my new PH112 stack with the Wb head but am keeping my Scout 12 combo as well as it just works so well as a grab and go bass rig!

So I've got a question for all you WA fans. I just picked up my first WA and was searching for the right cab to pair it with. I'll mostly be playing this at church so a single 12 or 15 would be perfect and preferably 50 lbs. or lighter. I'm looking at 8 ohm cabs so I can add another later if I want. I'm using a P bass with flats. I'd like to keep it under $500.

What cabs have you found that can fit this bill and work well with the WA?

While I won't proclaim it the be all/end all or anything, the GK NEO 112 II works nicely with the Walkabout (I have 2). Very lightweight, and a pretty reasonable price. When I first got them and tried them with a GK MB500, it was too bright for me. However, the Walkabout smoothes them out nicely, so to me it is a good match for the $$.

I can absolutely recommend Aguilar GS112s with the Mesa Walkabout. They make a great combination and would sound fantastic with a P-bass. I use that setup (albeit with a Jazz) often for worship services at my church. They can be had here from TB'ers in the classifieds for about $350 and are more than worth it. I'm actually considering selling one of mine (I have way too many to justify) so if you're interested, PM me.

You're gonna get all sorts of replies, depending on who likes what.
The Walkabout head likes most cabs. Cabs that are very mid focused will probly suit the least, but even these can be easily suited with the great eq on the WA.
Aggie GS112-a li'l mid-scooped- so probly suit nice.
My Bergantino cabs work well-AE212/112. While my AE410 is more aggressive & so I cut some mids on my WA amp.
My all-time fave was the Berg NV215. I also like my old '80's EV115
