Mesa Strategy 88 with 16 Speakers

I don't plan on keeping this setup this way (head goes to the PH412), but since it was all in the room at the same time, it was too impossible to pass up.

The Mesa Strategy is just a life long head that you'll spend a lot of time loving and discovering. When I bought it, it was a spur of the moment thing, because after 10 years of solid state, I felt like moving big air...

Here are two 800watt ea., rear ported Markbass New York 408's (4x8 with horns), and two 800watt ea., rear ported Markbass 4x10 cabs, all with horns. The Mesa was just made to do this.

I see so many class D vs. tube arguments on TB, and both have valid points, but from a "before I die" perspective, this setup is fun x4!

I don't care about moving it, buying it, or storing it... I just appreciate it!

Lol... I wish I could figure out a way to tie in the 12's... but like I said... This was all in the same room and easy, so it was a no brainer. Plus, the Jazz Special is the perfect bass for the setup.

Obviously this isn't something practical, but the combo of 8's and 10's sounds really nice... And since 8's are so infrequently used or known, I figured it would be a nice pic to get perspective on size.

Yes I've seen that frowned upon by many, and adored by others... Fortunately, I didn't have to put that much thought into it, since all of the parts are going back to their mates!

I love 8's and I get a lot of questions about them, so I thought that people would appreciate seeing the size comp to the 10's.

It's funny, with my trusty Markbass SD1200 head (which I adore), I've always wanted to run all four of my Mark cabs, but I couldn't because it wouldn't go down to 2 ohms.

Now that I have the Strategy and SVT too, and have been running them through the Mesa 412, I can't imagine ever asking for a better sound, but the mad scientist in me persists. So this is what happened.

I'm glad that I tried it too, because for some reason, the Strategy is a very big sounding head. Does that make sense? The SVT, SD1200, and V4B never sounded "big". Loud, yes, awesome, yes...

No matter what cab I ran the Strategy through, it was always obvious that my motor was way too powerful for my chassis! In this config, it was Heaven! Tons of punch and articulation... I'd have liked to get some 12's in there!
