Mesa subway cab combo question

I found adding the 112 (on top) made a pretty noticeable difference in the low end at least at low to medium volume. I wasn't expecting that and I quite like the combo. It would be interesting to try a 2 x 115 combo but that isn't going to happen now.

Hopefully Mesa can start taking and filling cabinet orders sooner than later. I'm understandably patient though, considering all the challenges going on.

I think what many people assume is that because the 112 feels a little less present in the lows and more mid focused that it's lacking low end. If you then compare a SW112 to SW115 you can easily become even more convinced that the 112 has weak lows. As single 112 cabs go, I find the SW to be quite capable of taking EQ and delivering what I would expect from a single 12" speaker.

If you listen to what people running the 212 are saying, it's obvious that the SW 12" drivers can produce low end, albeit not in the same league as the 15" loaded cabs. What I find with the 112/115 combo is that when I go to higher gig volumes I have a full low end with great upper-low/low-mid punch which sits nicely in a mix and doesn't get muddy.

Given how articulate the 15" loaded SW cabs are in the mids, they do well when you want or need a bigger low end and huge volume for situations like larger venues or outdoors. The 15" drivers have an inherent richness to the low end that I would describe as feeling really big compared to what the 112 can bring which I find is more of a low presence with a punchiness.

Thats my dream rig. A demeter minnie 800d to use the preamp on my pedalboard. I hope mesa builds an amp like the minnie.
