Mesa Subway D-350!

Also forgot to mention how nice the power cords are being supplied with these Mesa amps, nice and beefy and I appreciate the extra length too. A company that obviously understands it all begins with the power cord. Yep, both Stingrays really sing with either the WD-800 or the D-350.
The longer power cord requires an additional safety agency approval as an CCL component. It makes it more expensive but also adds to the value (at least IMO)

I have been enjoying the crap out of the D350! My latest band often plays on the quieter side, which, even at a few outdoor gigs, the D350 handled with tonal authority. I love the form factor, flexibility, and build quality. If I really need more machismo, the DI out to a small amp and xtra cab gets me there. I have had plenty of Mesa love over the years. My first real amp was a 400+ with a Diesel 115, followed by a M2000, D180, Walkabout (thought I’d never sell it), D800 an 800+ and a slew of a subway cabs. It’s been a while, but as others have said, the 350 feels like what I remember a + sounding like. Thanks for all the great gear Agedhorse! Now I have to try a TT and WD!

This is one aspect that surprised and impressed me as well and I mentioned something very similar in a post some time back. I was already a fan (of the fanless) D-350 with a good 4 Ohm cab set-up for medium to larger sized indoor gigs. However, I figured I better bring a back-up when I went to try it outdoors for the first time. Let me just say that the back-up amp never left the Jeep.

I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention again in this post (as an independent proof point) that the local constabulary while responding to a noise complaint expressed thoughts along the lines of what an authoritative bass sound I was getting. Perfect for rock and modern country seemed to be the general consensus.

That’s funny stuff Al! We also got a visit from “The Popo” at my first outing with the 350. City park pavilion, city fundraising event no less, it was really not loud at all, and, judging from their scowls from a distance, the ladies who called 911 (instead of walking over and taking to us) apparently just don’t like anyone on their collective lawn. The cop was apologetic and the ladies got booed.

Since I got my D-350, my D-800 has stayed in its bag. So far, I have had all the volume I need, and the thing has yet to even feel warm. All the EQ knobs are straight up, and it sounds great. It's the epitome of set-&-forget. Couldn't ask for anything better!

Similar to my experience!

Last Friday, a friend threw a band together of various players for a University gig, outdoors and temps in mid to high 80's. I used the D350 with a PH212, so only 8ohms @ 175w. Amp sounded great outside, and never even got warm.

This amazes me. You know the amp has to be generating some heat internally. But it never feels warmer than ambient to me.
Combination of technology and magic in the right proportion

I don't know if there is a break-in period for the D-350 but it seems to really opened up harmonically after having it these last few weeks. It sounded good when I first got it but the last few days I'm hearing a richness to it that although was there before when I first got it, was not there in spades as it is now. I think it just surpassed my beloved Aguilar TH-350 in that regard which is not an easy task. I also noticed my WD-800 always sounded better after its been left on a while, tube warm up I guess. By the way I returned my WD-800 not because I didn't like it, I loved it but the D-350 is doing the job for now. Maybe next year if I get into a group I'll get another WD or maybe a TT instead, that would be a difficult choice. Either way I'd be keeping the D-350, I think there really may be some fairy dust sprinkled on these things.

I imagine the designer will check in and in a nice way say w t f.

While there's no break-in period for this head, if you're like me things tend to sound different once I get past the initial "critical listening for every nuance" phase and just start playing and enjoying the new piece of gear. Although getting settled in with a new instrument is a little different process than getting comfortable with a new amp and/or cab I still think we adapt in our playing and listening as we bond with what we have.

For that gear where this is not the case, we have the classifieds... :)

Hey there, sorry if the question has been asked before...I haven't got time to read all 53 pages yet...do you guys find the need of a HPF pedal in front of the D350? Or is there a fixed HPF (~30hz is that tru)? I have a D350 coming and I am super excited for it!!! Thank you!
If you need a viable HPF for a tone shaping device, you may need an external one. If just for speaker protection the fixed maybe enough.

The designer of the amp may chime in.

:)
