MESA Subway TT-800 Mute Switch Light

Just received my new TT 800 and had an initial concern regarding the Mute Switch Light not illuminating when engaging for the first time.
Now, it operates "normally" but that initial anomaly concerned me.

Any one else experience this?

Was the head in it's power up self check mode when you flipped the switch? I don't recall seeing this this anomaly on any of the SW heads. All I can imagine is that if the switch is flipped at just the right moment during the initial power up sequence, it might not come on right away.

I only have one of the prototypes here (that went through the safety certification testing) not a production model, but I exercised it on and off about 10 times and the light always seemed to come on (mute on or mute off and immediately switched on during power up). Agedhorse might have a suggestion on something to try, but that's all the help I can be.

It's possible that the switch contacts weren't fully seated after shipping. This can happen on cam-over type switching mechanisms occasionally, when the switch is moved half way then back and only one set of the two contacts switches but the other set doesn't

Every once in a while we do see a defective switch, but it's very uncommon as these use gold plated internal contacts.

If it happens again let me know and I will get it resolved for you.

It's possible that it was in self-check. Something else it did was the light flashed a couple of times.

If you toggle the switch a few times it will insure that the mechanism is properly seated, even if it got hung up in shipping. These mini-toggles are very robust.

Calling @agedhorse . I'm a very happy owner of a D800+ but with my current setup, which is a 2x15 loaded with 3015's, have to turn the voice control all the way to the stop clockwise to get the tone I and more than a few others who have heard it, prefer.

Is it possible to get there or somewhere in that range with the mid controls on these two channels?

Probably not, there are 3 things that happen simultaneously with the voice control.

What tone are you unhappy with in your cabinet? What cabinet is this? Mid driver? Tweeter? Commercial designed/built? HO or LF version?

Thanks for your reply. These are the 3015 standard, not the LF. No mid driver, that's a separate project and I'm not looking at the tweeter side at the moment.

What I object to is the amount of mids these speakers have. Cranking the voice scoops all that out and it really sounds good, as far as the consensus of opinion from the 1/2 dozen others who've heard it goes.

Oh yeah, and deep and bright switches engaged.

With that much correction, I would suggest that perhaps you would be better off looking for a speaker cabinet that better suits your basic tone goals. Trying to fit a square peg into a round hole is a rough task, make it easier.

Set the mid frequency to 500/800, and scoop it. You can also just boost the bass and treble instead. But either way, just scoop your mids.

Cab is fine. The drivers are not fine for the application. Nowhere in the Eminence literature for this speaker is it recommended as a bass guitar speaker. I don't want to abandon them though, they cost a pretty penny.

Speaker cabinet includes the drivers... without the drivers the cabinet won't be a problem but it won't make any sound either.

This statement is only partially true. The amp didn't mute anything. It's just fine.
