Have any of you guys had a chance to listen to a 12 side by side with a 15? I originally wanted a 12, and I thought it wouldn't be much more than a practice amp. Instead, I got a shot at a 15 1st, and it's been my main gig amp for almost 2 years now! Still, I'm thinking I would like just a shade "tighter" sound, and wonder how the 2 compare.

Yes, I found a store that had both ,took my bass in on a Saturday morning and played both for a while in an empty,quiet store. When switching back to the 12" after playing the 15" for a while I definately enjoyed the added tight punch the 12" gave to the tone. Although I like 15 cabs I did find this 15" to be a bit looser sounding than what I was use to coming from an Eden D115xlt cab. That kind of bummed my out because I would like the added speaker surface and a little more buffer from speaker farting the 15" offers. But I did prefer the 12" on this day anyway.

Since I think I may want to "tighten up", even though I've been playing Boogie amps for about 20 years, (Walkabout the last 2), I'm thinking about a Bergantino IP112........has anyone listened to one of these side by side with any Walkabout?

I tried a 12 combo at my local GC and was blown away. I'm looking to get a fine combo amp for db gigs and electric bass rehearsals -- and this one is in the top 3 so far (aside from an iamp 800 combo and one of the new Acoustic Image amps).

Plus, the Mesa kind of looks like a Polytone -- a bonus for those "background" jazz jobs...

Where did you get to hear the 12? I'm in Pittsburgh a couple of times a week, just live an hour down the road in Wheeling.

I tried it at the Guitar Center in Monroeville -- east of the city. I live out toward Greensburg, so Monroeville is only about a 15-20 minute drive.

I almost picked this one up...but I'm always a bit concerned about buying tube amps from a store like that. How many kids were in there whacking around on it you know?

It was, however, the finest combo amp in the shop. I tried it next to a Mark Bass 2x10 combo and also a few GK heads + cabs. I've been considering the GK neo 12 combo -- because it has over 400 watts plus it's under $800.

The mesa walkabout scout is killer -- but I'm not sure if I want to plunk down $1200 or not. Of course, the iamp and AI are even more expensive!

Last time I went to GC it was at Robinson....no Boogie stuff there. I actually bought my Walkabout 15 out of Atlanta.......technically used, but just like new. I still wonder if I would like the 12 better, even though the 15 really kills. (Probably why I'm so close to pullin' the trigger on a Berg IP112.)

Do you still play w/TJ Jr.?..........I seem to remember meeting Sr. years ago when I was still working at the music store down here, in fact, I think one of our guitarists knows him pretty well if I remember correctly.
