I've been doing some sessions lately and using the WD-800 as a DI. Engineers are loving it. Lots of compliments on the tone and quality.
Kudos to @agedhorse and the Mesa team for knocking it out of the park on this and their other stuff.

Good to know! The BL told us, at the last rehearsal, that she wants to lay down backing tracks, sometime in August. So, I will bring along my WD-800. I used a Markbass tube DI for the last track that we did and it sounded okay but I want to see what the WD-800 can do.

Are you using it post EQ ?

The DI is paying it forward to my pro audio brethren. To short change the DI would earn me ridicule from my peers.
Well, amigo, you ain't earnin' ridicule. Much respect and love from the engineers. And from me. Thanks for designing great gear.

pre-eq.

I just heard from the engineer last night.
"The bass sounds perfect. Every time I go to do some of my usual 'basses need this' processing it just takes away from the sound. It's just right."
I take that as a very high compliment.

I recognize that's not ALL the DI - but good sound needs good signal chain, and the WD is definitely part of mine.

I have the d800+ and sure it pushes my 15’s just great but I record a lot of my bands sessions and my bass is through its DI, pre EQ....
Love it!!!
