Ok, someone had to start this thread.
This show is has gone through two episodes.
I wanted to like this show.
For those who are unfamiliar. This is a 15 minute show on adult swim that appears on sunday's at 11:45 EST. And it's about a metal band.
That's about it.
The is no plot.
A few gags.
Hints at a plot, but there is obviously not enough time for anything to develope, so the show remains pointless.
The music is pretty cool if you can appreciate death metal.
Basically, I think it could be a good show if it were half an hour and actually used the time to develop a plot. As of right now, it's constantly disappointing.
It seemed last night, at the exact moment when the plot should have appeared. The show ended.
You can really feel how short this show is. Intro start at 11:45 and then the credits are rolling at 11:55 sharp. The lack of commercial interruption during the show may be part of the reason it feels so fast, breaking the show in half(two 5 minute halves
I don't know if that would really be worth the trouble) may help the issue. The show is just too short to make any real impact.
It appears that a lot of adult swim fans are really raving about the show. I would be happy to call most of them sheep or fools. The "fans" like the idea and are content to accept a sub-par product.
The characters are pathetic IMO. There's no time to develop them. They don't even really attempt to put them into a recognizable stereotype. They all are pretty much just made out to be pathetic.
Then of course there is the bassist. This character goes by "murderface." A pointless name for a pointless character. He sets a good example for the bass playing community though. He may be the most developed character of the band and this is shown through the fact the he has the linguistic skills of a 10 year old....and the manners/demeanor/mental ability of possibly worse.
But, I will still watch the show in hope. I mean, I'm only losing about 10 minutes of my life on every episode. I can live with that.
I still want to like the show, but it just keeps letting me down.
(sorry for the poor format of the quasi-review, I've been writing down mainly thoughts with no format while busy at work)
