Ok, someone had to start this thread.

This show is has gone through two episodes.

I wanted to like this show.

For those who are unfamiliar. This is a 15 minute show on adult swim that appears on sunday's at 11:45 EST. And it's about a metal band.

That's about it.

The is no plot.

A few gags.

Hints at a plot, but there is obviously not enough time for anything to develope, so the show remains pointless.

The music is pretty cool if you can appreciate death metal.

Basically, I think it could be a good show if it were half an hour and actually used the time to develop a plot. As of right now, it's constantly disappointing.

It seemed last night, at the exact moment when the plot should have appeared. The show ended.

You can really feel how short this show is. Intro start at 11:45 and then the credits are rolling at 11:55 sharp. The lack of commercial interruption during the show may be part of the reason it feels so fast, breaking the show in half(two 5 minute halves  I don't know if that would really be worth the trouble) may help the issue. The show is just too short to make any real impact.

It appears that a lot of adult swim fans are really raving about the show. I would be happy to call most of them sheep or fools. The "fans" like the idea and are content to accept a sub-par product.

The characters are pathetic IMO. There's no time to develop them. They don't even really attempt to put them into a recognizable stereotype. They all are pretty much just made out to be pathetic.

Then of course there is the bassist. This character goes by "murderface." A pointless name for a pointless character. He sets a good example for the bass playing community though. He may be the most developed character of the band and this is shown through the fact the he has the linguistic skills of a 10 year old....and the manners/demeanor/mental ability of possibly worse.

But, I will still watch the show in hope. I mean, I'm only losing about 10 minutes of my life on every episode. I can live with that.

I still want to like the show, but it just keeps letting me down.

(sorry for the poor format of the quasi-review, I've been writing down mainly thoughts with no format while busy at work)

I really, really like this show. You have to be a metalhead to understand some of the jokes.

None of the shows on Adult Swim have any real plot or character development (except for Family Guy and Futurama, which aren't even made by Cartoon Network). That's the whole point behind a lot of their shows. If those things make you not like the show, you probably don't like Robot Chicken, ATHF, or Sealab either.

Venture bro's have plot... :D

BTW didnt they already have a cartoon about metal?

You can see it right here:

I had my hopes up REALLY high for this show. The first episode was dissapointing. The second was a LOT better, but like you said, the ending was just slapped together.

His name is "William Murderface Murderface Murderface". It says so in the first episode and on the intro when they are grunting out everybody's names.

I think the reason it can't get good is because of the time limit. 10 minutes isn't enough for anything.

So far we know that Nathan is "metal" (i.e. always has a growling voice and is angry), and Murderface is fat, disgusting, and can't speak well. That's it. The other 3 characters are just "generic" right now.

The show did not live up to it's hype, but it's an infinite times better than Robot Chicken or Tom Goes to the Mayor. Those just need to be canceled.

Well, if you don't like metal, I don't think you're going to make much of an effort in watching the show. I don't recall any really specific references off the top of my head. What references were made that you would really have to be into metal to have gotten?

Also, I'll bet most people don't know where the Metal Coffee comes from. Unless your a documentary fan.

Sealab was an outstanding show and most, if not every, episode had a plot to it. The characters were excellent. Great Show.

Robot chicken is a perfect show for a 15 minute time-slot. They shoot quick sketches that can hit or miss. When they miss, it usually isn't to bad IMO, but sometimes when they hit. It's just halarious.

ATHF is a decent show. It started off really good and now I would call it mediocre. They have had danzig on, that's a bonus.

I've been an Adult swim fan from the beginning. I plan to stay a fan as well.

Korgoth is incredible, I cannot wait for the full series. Do you know when thats going to happen?

I wanted to recall that when the pilot aired that they said something about september, but the schedule on adultswim.com is showing through december and no Korgoth.

There are a number of shows on right now that I don't plan on ever watching....I'd be much happier to see some of them bumped for korgoth.

The thing I noticed is that they actually show the band members playing their instruments, instead of say, having one of the guitarists play a solo, but show them low on the neck and just struming the guitar.

Murderface even uses his fingers (3) to pluck his bass on the second episode.

I haven't seen Metalocalypse yet, but Robot Chicken is golden. Everytime I see it I laugh my arse off. What don't you like about it?

Haven't seen Tom Goes to the Mayor either, so I can't comment on that show.

I noted that. I'm also glad they picked a t-bird and not a warlock for him.

That's because Gibson is sponsoring the show- they're all playing Gibson instruments.

The show is co-created by Brendan Small, who co-created Home Movies, one of my favorite shows. The other guys who made/voiced Home Movies are doing Lucy, Daughter of the Devil- I saw the pilot of that and absolutely loved it.

Metalocalypse isn't great so far...hoping it'll become decent. The Korgoth pilot was pretty bad.

Imo, it kicks(kicked) a**. The last episode of the season was really epic, and the music playing on that ep was ace. I actually enjoyed the music throughought the whole series. Good Guitars,Inaudible bass (hehe), vocals were nice, n drums too. Really good riffs and melodies.
Some episodes were better than others, but i enjoyed all (might be cos im a metalhead myself though:P).

I had to stop watching since school started in October, but so far they were getting better when I saw them.

The one where S... Sq... the blonde guitarist was putting on a guitar lesson on pay-per-view was awesome.

"I wish they made insulin flavored candy..."

"Door knobs for a better future."

if you don't know metal then you don't get any of the inside jokes...the two guitarists are obvious stabs at the Swedish death metal vorld..while the drummer is Lars..and Murderface is the underappreciated bass player in most metal bands ;-p

CLEAN UP ON AISLE 5 ROTTEN BODY LAND SLIDEEEEE

Lars? How the hell is he NOT Devin Townsend? I mean, yeah, he plays drums, but there's not a Lars bone in his body.
