Method Books for these techniques?

Hello,

So I haven't had a bass teacher for a year or so now because I have no way to get their, but I still want to improve my playing and get some new techniques down.

The two I have in mind are Billy Sheehan's tapping and Victor Wooten's weird slapping, I'd also like a book on scales for a 6 string bass.

If there are any other books or DVDs that you think will be helpful please recommend them.

As for the Sheehan Tapping I'd suggest Sheehans Advanced Rock Bass book also Alex Websters Extreme Metal Bass has a great section in it on that.

The book Bass Lessons with the Greats has a great chapter with Victor explaning that technique plus the Berklee colledge of music Slap Bass book (The title escapes me right now) by Joe Santerre has quite a few good double thump lines and exercises in it.

As for scales if you want to go old school Slonimsky's Thesorus of Scales and Melodic Patterns is the Gold Standard (Coltrane, Jaco, Bird etc. studied this one quite extensively). Jimmy Haslips "Melodic Bass Library" is also a great one.
