Metric's Josh Winstead & his explosive fuzz!

I saw an amazing show last night from Metric at Atlanta's Tabernacle. One of the highlights for me was watching bassist Josh Winstead switch back and forth between his synthesizer and bass. Some sounds I thought were coming from the synthesizer were actually from his bass, and vice-versa. The most amazing sound he got was midway through "Twilight Galaxy," I guess in the chorus, where he picked up the bass through some pedal or something that gave him a fantastic synthy kind of fuzz sound.

If anyone has any idea what sort of effect he might have been using, I would love to find out. The only lead I have is that Jimmy Shaw (guitarist) mentioned using a Malekko B:Assmaster on the record.

Ideas??

i was thinking something similar. i saw him last night on later with jools holland, except i remember thinking that on the (latest) record i didnt remember much in the way of bass effects. but live he had an absolute ocean of pedals in front of him.

he had a really nice OD on sick muse, i wasnt sure if it was a pedal or his ampeg rig but it sounded beautiful.
