This brings back fond memories of me and my dad at at Shea when I was a kid. He would let me take sips of his beer as we watched the Mets lose. Good times.

Go Mets! The Mariners are already well into their late season swoon, unfortunately. They crashed early and beat the rush.

Yup been pretty 1969 amazing so far

I saw the Mets lose many a Saturday game in the 70s with my grandfather. He had seasons going back to the polo grounds years.

10 games! I really can't believe it, especially with no less than 9 guys on the 15 DL, or worse. Another clutch hit from Duda for the go ahead, and a great play from Flores, left it to Familia who otherwise shut it down.

Strawberry...Most over rated Met ever....I do not see why this guy gets so many kudos. Sure he had power and could steal some bases but did not hit for average and was an awful defensive player (we used to count how many balls dropped in front of him). And, by the way, the guy was a drug addict who refused to make child support payments, fled from the scene of an accident, solicited prostitutes and filed false police reports.

Sorry for the negativity...DONE!

On a happier note - Another victory! Scary, though, when Wilmer Flores is the guy you needed to deliver the big hit. But I'll take it!

My wife and I lived in New York in the mid 1980s. I still say Mookie Wilson would have made it to the bag even if Bill Buckner hadn't booted the ball. So, there you have it.

Oh, and the upper deck of Shea Stadium sucked. Really sucked.
