Double Bass Mic for DB

I'm curious about this question regarding mic's for the DB:
Anybody tried the Ischell X48C contact mic compared to a small handheld mic which is fitted between the arch of the bridge? Did the handheld mic 'win'? An Omnidirectional mic because it will be fitted in the middle of the bass?

Have you tried fitting a small Lavalier mic in the arch of the bridge--to good effect?

Your experiences of the above topic most welcome.

Yes. It sounds good and "natural" but - like any microphone on DB - has limits on loudness.

An air mic sounds at least a bit better than a contact mic (more ‚air‘), but the contact mic is a lot more feedback resistent.
The use case determines if the better sounding one can work and also if the better sound can get through the ensemble. The larger and powerful the ensemble, the less important is the last bit of sound quality difference.
So, determine what you need.
Consider both over time and get the one you need the most or can use in all your current situations first.

This is excellent advice . Most times using a microphone vs a contact mic, or even a piezo pickup is a trade off. As a result of that trade off their are a lot of bassists
using pickups and in my case a contact pickup ( The Ehrlund) . In the right setting microphones are lovely but the person running the board has to know what they are doing.
