I know that is an old thread but I recently joined this forum and I have a MF Short Scale Bass guitar like Mike but not a double body.
I have attached a couple of pictures of the guitar after I had my luthier add the baritone neck and refinish in RIC Jetglo and add the white binding. All of the hardware is original as is the body. I needed to change the machine heads so that you can get your fingers in there to tune the guitar and the original rocker nut is still on the neck.
The son of a gun is REAL HARD to play because the spacing of the strings (flat wound bass strings on a normal guitar neck width) and frets are much closer than a regular bass. The magic of the guitar (in addition to its sound) is the very low frets allowing slides between notes to have ZERO fret noise. You can really hear this on the song "Counting Out Time" from The Lamb.
