Micro Heads which are stable @ 2 ohms ??

Isn't there any Micros that can just go down to 2 ohms.

I'm not really looking for stereo or dual amp setups unless there is separate volume control for each side.

Anymore ideas?

Puma1000 has separate volume controls for each side.

Per the above, the AI Clarus amps (the Focus has been discontinued) will run at 2ohms all night with no problems. The Carvin mentioned above is another that does 2ohms. It's not in the same league as the AI and TecAmp amps according to reviews on this site, but it's also a small fraction of the cost. That might be the best bet for you, unless you want to spend big bucks.

The Eden WT405 is also very nice sounding, reasonably small (not micro, but still quite small and lightweight), and will pump at 2ohms.

Please educate me. What do we mean by "stable"? Do 2ohm loads tend to blow speakers, fuses or something?

ohm is a measure of resistance. The lower the rating the less resistance is seen by the amp. As you lower the resistance, you increase the current flow, the amp puts out more power, works harder and gets hotter. An amp that is not stable at 2 ohms will run too hot and might fail for numerous reasons

I think a lot of modern heads are "stable" at 2 ohms, or even lower.
The problem is the over-current, short circuit protection kicks in and the amp shuts down to protect itself. But there is plenty of time before such protection clicks in.
You wouldn't be able to get out twice the wattage at 2ohms, but you should be able to work at lower volume levels. The Carvin, provides a voltage switch so the head never exceeds the rated wattage at lower ohm levels.
IMHO - I don't think the industry needs to take this further. Future should be powered cabs with built with internal amps that produce the maximum wattage into their internal drivers.

I think stable means that the amp will work reliably in most, if not all, conditions.
