Double Bass Microphone recommendation

It's a little difficult to guess what type of amplifier you have so if you'll fill out your user profile we can help you better. The Ehrlund Pickup will sound very close to a microphone and does not require phantom, it does have a little pre amp that comes with it. Not cheap at $385.00 but well worth the price IMHO as it's very feedback resistant. If you're looking toward economical then the Shure SM 58 will work just fine, but you'll need something like the H-CLamp from Explore Audio to position it on the bass unless you want to go with the rubber band mount.

I'm lovin' all the discussion about the Ehrlund.

The SM58 (or any dynamic mic for that matter) will need a transformer to plug into an amp without a mic input.

I not using mic through amp, but I tired lot of mics FOH and in monitors. My choice of mic live, is the DPA 4011, but it needs phantom power. From the dynamic mics, my choice is the Beyer M88 TG.
