Mid Sized Combo Amp

I am looking to replace my old practice amp which recently broke. I had a fender rumble 30 watt, and it served its purpose well, but I never really fell in love with it. Recently, I've been looking at the Orange Crush PiX, as it is right around what I want to spend, has good reviews, and the output I'm looking for. From what I have heard about Orange guitar amps I understand that they are famous (or infamous depending on your taste) for a nice crunchy tone even through the clean channel, and I want to know to what degree this holds true for their bass amps, as I'm looking for a smoother tone that mimics my Ampeg SVT-CL that I gig with not really a crunch. Also, if you know of any combos that fall within the $200-500 range please don't hold back.

If its an Ampeg type sound you are seeking, you might consider the Ampeg Portaflex series. PF350 or even PF500 will probably get you where you want to be.
PF350's have been largely problem free. PF500's, especially the early versions, had some reported problems, but plenty of folks here like them.
Your price point might drive you to used gear, if that's the case, I would be inclined to go with the PF350 with a 115HE cab.
good luck
