Midi keyboard.. Idk what to do

I have a m-audio keystation 49e. I use it on an IMAC setup with garage band. Well... It stopped working. The usb cable that went from the keyboard to the mac has fried a lil at the tip connecting into the keyboard. It wont do anything now. It wont turn on. I looked up troubleshooting for it online but not seeing anything. It turns on when I plug the power adapter in. I even got a new usb cable to use and it dont work. Did I mess this up or can it be fixed? The usb connection port looks perfectly normal. But the cable is burnt a little bit on the inner plastic part above the metal things in it. Did I mess this up or can it be fixed?

As Blackmag+c points out the M-Audio says don't use both USB and the power adapter at same time. Your best bet is to go to the M-Audio's support website and see what they say happens when you have two power sources connected at same time.

I seriously doubt that plugging both the USB cable and a power cable in at the same time would fry your keyboard. Plugging in the WRONG power adapter could certainly cause some problems though... The keyboards I've had you can plug in both USB/power no problem, it's just not necessary to plug in power if you have USB because the USB provides power. If the M-audio can't handle that, just another reason never to buy M-audio to me..

Well it's still probably working through the MIDI output, so you could get a MIDI usb input for your comp.

My keystation always worked like a charm, but I've heard many reports of USB cables going on strike.
