MIDI Question

Hello,

I recently bought a Line 6 Bass Pod Pro (not the XT version, older one). From there I planned on plugging it to my PC for recording. I have a Realtek AC'97, so it does not have MIDI port. So I thought of buying those USB to MIDI cables. Although my question is that, will it work ? will I be able to record or will it not work 'cause of the sound card ? Does it have to do anything with the sound card since it's trough USB ? (Since I plan on buying an iMac after Christmas which I plan on using the same cable to a USB port on the mac)

thanks a lot,

The MIDI connections on the POD will not turn your bass into a MIDI controller.

I'm pretty sure that it only allows MIDI control of the POD itself, like maybe changing presets and stuff. And I know that you can connect the POD to a PC thru the MIDI connections in order to run a program to alter the sound parameters to create and save new presets, etc.

If you're wanting to trigger MIDI sounds with your bass, you will need to install some kind of MIDI pickup on your bass to do that.
