I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place. Atleast a few times in my life I've seen bass drums converted to double basses with added neck and other things ontop of a fiberskyn head. I'm a drummer and have an unused bass drum at my disposable. Can anyone point me in the right direction to getting this project started?

Double Bass Might be in the wrong place, looking for guidance

I've tried, and I've looked for howtos using google and such. The closest I found a while ago was something mounted on a bassdrum with 2 strings and the intonation was awful. I don't think it was a bassplayer who made it
A luthier in my area has done a bass like this- Keith Cary of Winters(California), he also builds *Commodiums*- resonater-type instruments fashioned from chromed bedpans(they actually sound very nice). That's all the info I have on him- a google search may yield something useful. Post pics if you get something going!
