Mighty Mite replacement neck?

Once again search is limited by Talkbass Mobile app so forgive me if this has been posted a billion times.

I was thinking of ordering a Mighty Might lefty maple jazz neck to put on my righty Squier PBass Special to get the upside down headstock, tuners on the bottom look, plus maple necks are sexy.

I'm looking at MM because Warmoth is too expensive for me right now. SO, that being said what's the popular opinion on MM necks?

Also to all you modded type folks out there is it difficult to transfer the tuners and whatnot?

The necks are great. I have one on my project p bass it started as a vm p bass. I guess it still is one but it doesnt have much stock parts left on it. And the tuners come out easy just un screw the 4 screws on the back of the head stock the tuners pull right out. the little rings that hold the tuners have to be knocked out try a socket set. Thats what I used just find a socket that fits in the hole and smack it a few times with a hammer.

They're excellent. I love it (jazz neck all maple). No holes for the neck bolts. You'll have some difficulty without proper tools. I had to bore out the tuner holes with a smooth file--actually it was a knife sharpener. they didn't quite fit the Fender tuners I bought.

I had the rosewood jazz neck on a Precision bass i was building. It was like 90$ on ebay, and i was really impressed.
The jazz neck was a bit chunkier front to back then the standard fender jazz necks. It was rounder IMO.
As for tuners, the tuning holes were a tad small for my VM jazz tuner ferrules, but with a towel and hammer they fit right in without a problem :)
It also had a very nice satin feel, its just like a MIM neck basically.

I'm looking for a neck for my fenderbird project. So I'm very interested in this thread. I was going to use a squier AFN neck because the one I have on my P is sweet. But I bought another one that was sour. I will probably get a MM if something else doesn't come along pretty soon.

I have about 10 basses with mighty mite necks. I like them a lot. They are not perfect but the are a good neck. They are best if you add a finish. I use tung oil with mineral spirits. You will need to drill your own screw holes to bolt the neck on your bass body.

Here's one with a mighty mite neck and a mighty mite body.

Thanks for all the help everyone, the neck on my Squier is OKAY but I bought the whole bass pretty beat up so as long as I'm on this "pimp my Squier" kick I might as well do something really useful right?

Another question, might be a n00b question so don't judge. Are thinner gauge strings going to help me get better action? Like I have the Squier strung up with the heaviest 4 string set I could find at GC because it used to be played for drop B songs but will say a Medium gague set allow me to get the action lower?

Joe, yours is an Allparts as are ALL Jaebirds except for #001 which is a Mighty Mite.

IMO the Allparts are better necks using better wood and a little better fret job but the MMs are a great buy.
