Mike Arnopol is a master of building bass cabinets. He showed me a 4x6 cabinet and it was the equivelant to a 4x10 and 1x15 running togeather, but his sounded even crazier. Every note was 3 dimensional and shot in every direction. I was playing with a lakland 5 and that B string was cuddled and cared for. I didn't boom or sound farty. Also for the other side, the G string was strong and didn't wimp out at all. It was an absolute delight to be in his presents. That little 34 pound amp has changed my entire view of how amps work. Like Mike said, "you can't think in terms of 10,12 and 15 inch cabs."

The cabinets are under "Big E". Get one as soon as possible.

This thread is a bit embarassing. I think I may know who posted it.

I came in to the GTG and there was a kid playing the crap out of the bass. We got to talking. I figured him to be 20 or 21 years old. Turns out he was 15. He respectfully gave up the bass for other guys to try the cabinets. But he'd pick the bass up again and start playing. I'm talking to some guy about Jamerson playing What's Goin' On and this kid plays the bass line verbatim and perfectly. Chops for days and super musical.

Turns out he lives about 6 blocks from me and wants some lessons. I'm thinking today that I HAVE to hire an assistant ASAP. So I give him a call and he's excited about doing it. A few days after school and one weekend day.

But now---he's a commercial user as he'll be employed by me. Probably the youngest commercial user on TB. But now he has to know that he can't post unsolicited comments about his commercial wares.

I feel pretty good about myself as a bassist but as far as speakers--the real geniuses that I know are Duke, Greenboy and now Tom and Steve of Big E as well as many other top speaker designers. I'm just a carpenter who plays bass for a living. Although I have made an interesting contribution here and there---but theses guys are REALLY smart!

Watch out for this kid---he's going to be the real deal!

Due to other stuff going on at the GTG, I didn't get to spend much time with Mike's cabs (I'll second that he's a great guy to talk to, first met him at a previous GTG). But the limited time I did have with them was well spent, really great stuff! I'm more into a low-mid/mid-mid/old-school tone, so the pair of 2X8s was more my flavor, but it was all very impressive. I could see myself getting a 4X8 down the road. Thanks for bringing the cabs, Mike!
