Mike Dirnt sound

Green Day tunes in drop D as well, so best to keep that in mind. If I remember correctly, mike tends to pick behind the pickup when he plays, or at least used to when dookie came out (gives a higher tone), but then again back then he used to use a gibson ripper or grabber (different tone entirely). As for software and eq settings... I don't know about that, so I won't try to give any comment on those things.

Actually the play in Eb.

Yeah, you're getting close!
I don't know if I'd set mids to zero though. Try bringing the mids up a bit. When you do that, you might want to bring that 800Hz down a bit on the eq.
I would also try pulling the treble down some too.

Alright, I boosted a bit at 2KHz with the EQ and pull back the treble knob slightly, mids knob set to zero and only 3 on the bass knob. I boosted a bit at 800 in the EQ. I think I got a pretty ok sound, but I don't know if it will hold in the mix. Maybe I am doing something wrong with the frequencies that I dont understand.

Please take a listen and tell me what you think.

It was in total guitar bass special where he said something like " I love that 2khz".. but he has allso said that now days eq on his amp is set allmost flat. I saw a picture of his current setup (fender) and eq was flat except bit reduced at 300hz.
I have that total guitar somewhere.. I try to find it cos there he speaks a lot about his signature bass and how he gets his tone.
:bassist:

Where did you see that picture

I get a good tone with my precision bass copy through my 15 watt marshall bass combo amp. Settings are: modern channel with compression button pushed in (compressor on), compression knob set to 10 o clock, bass is 1 o clock, mid is 3 o clock, treble full on. I play with .96 thick gauge picks, and tone knob (which is also my volume for the moment) is on full. Mike dirnt uses compression on most songs (jesus of suburbia and kill the dj to name a couple)
