Mikey Way

So after I failed to sell my Warwick $$ here, the best deal I could get from a local retailer was a trade plus cash. Since I was moving to short scales anyways, I made the deal. I picked the Mikey Way Squier. I do like the sparkle, I think it will look great with my bands light show. I have to admit, I like it a lot. Sounded good, played decent. Needs a set up and some flats for my taste, but that will come tomorrow. One thing I did notice, it sustains like crazy... I'm a pick player and often palm mute to deaden notes when I bounce up to the octave and things like that.. but this thing the original note kept ringing out and I was pretty far up off the bridge trying to palm mute. Not sure if it's good or bad, but I had to adjust my playing style a bit.. I know there's those who say the string through body doesn't make a difference, but this one definitely has more sustain than my Mikro or any of my other basses while palm muting... During normal open string picking? Not sure.. Definitely quite a difference while palm muting though...

Woah... I didn't know the Mikey Way sig is string through...

Congrats on the score! I actually went the other way... I've been playing short scales for the past few years, but got a nice MIJ Fender P last year. I've played that bass alone since then!

Still... something about a short scale with flats and a pick...

Something about every bass I've owned with flats and a pick.. lol It's my go to sound..

I agree with you about short scales, they just feel right. I'm not too keen on the Mikey Way model though. The sparkle, stripes, and pick-up just aren't my thing, but I love my Mustang reissue and my MusicMaster.

As promised.. Currently wearing some GHS Brite-Flats.. I might change them for Chromes though...
