mild to wild od distortion

Looking for a pedal that goes from a good od to full on distortion. I have a bad monkey and like it, but I would like to try something new. I believe something with a blend feature would be good for me. Also don't want to loose any of the lows. I've read about almost everything on tb but still undecided. I would get the darkglass b3k but its out of my range. Any other suggestions?

I have used numerous ODs including the Bad Monkey. Recently I decided to try an actual fuzz and at last, I found the tone I'd been looking for. I got the Brown Dog, which can get wonderfully wild and has a really flexible gate. But if I turn down the gate, put the drive on the less aggressive side and blend in just a bit of the fuzz with the clean, it gives a really nice fur. So I'll recommend you try a Brown Dog or other gated fuzz that has blendable fuzz/clean. The IE Oxide sure looks appealing and everyone's samples sound great.

P.S., I'd give samples, but Ed Friedland's video review covers it all really well and he's a much better player than I am!

I've always touted the Tech 21 Leeds as an excellent overdrive, that can do mild to wild:

I sold it though, and got an Oxford and think i like it even better.

There's barely any Tech 21 Oxford clips on bass on the internet, and none with a Ric - specifically with crappy playing by yours truly(excuse my piece of crap MAudio drivers too):

Interesting, I've the Oxford as well, and find it good for overdrive tone.

Yeah - there's not many times I feel like digging in hard enough to rip the strings off my instrument.

The Oxford definitely has an angry overdriven grind that I totally didn't expect.

Maybe that's why Geddy have 2 AD200Mk3.
What do you think about the Oxford tone regarding the low/mid/high knob position? It seems like the lows position have to be set quite beyond 15:00 to achieve nice lows, while the mids are a bit boomy, so usually no more than 12:00-13:00.

Yeah, I totally forgot about Geddy using Orange now. I was expecting a duller, blanket over the treble type thing. Something darker than the Leeds. This was a pleasant surprise, and a good match for my 4003.

I usually tend to have the mids and bass near each other and the treble just a notch above them - I'll probably experiment with bass a "little" higher, but I noticed no problems with bass output on this thing.
This was my first time using it, and it took me a LOT less fuss to get an aggressive sound than the Leeds. The bass level is very dependent on the character knob position on this pedal(b/c of Orange's "Frequency Analyzing Control"). Somewhere at or below the middle seems to be a good sweet spot for bass output and harmonic content. Below 9:00 or 10:00 the bass drops off considerably, but everything you need is past there anyway.

This was the settings I used:

I'll try these settings with my 4003 and my Geddy.
