MIM 5 string owners... A plea for help!!!!

Ok fellow bass players, I need some info. I have a chance to get a MIM 5 string Jazz, but i would really want to get a different neck for it. It's Midnight Wine and I really dig that color, but i want to put a maple neck/fingerboard with the 4+1headstock config. The bass is at a local GC and I can't get any info from them and I have also emailed Fender with no results. I have also searched here, but can't seem to find any info on a fiver, only the four stringers...

Can anyone tell me what the neck pocket specs are for the 5 string?

Also while i'm asking, does anyone know if there is a replacement neck (Warmoth, USACG, Mighty Mite) that would fit it without any or little modification?

Before you go to this trouble, add up all the dollars for the neck, work, etc.. I'm not sure how much you'd save over a used American fiver, which would be in a lot of ways nicer. If you could stand an in-line five, rather than a 4+1, you might get the U.S. for the same money! Also, you could probably sell a standard used U.S for about what you paid; a MIM is probably worth the same whether or not you customize it.

Seriously, I'm in the same boat. I have the midnight wine mex 5 and I'm in the process of putting the maple 4 + 1 on it from Warmoth. Haven't ordered it yet. Just get an american. They don't have the midnight wine, but it'll be the same price. And that's if you get the MIA new. I could be wrong. I have a bad ass bridge and Bart pickups on it. With those mods and a new neck, it's the price of a new MIA. There's a sweet sunburst american deluxe with the maple, 4 + 1 that looks like a beauty. I got my MIM 4 years ago, and the modding has been an ongoing process, so I don't notice the money flow as much. If I were to get a MIM now, with the mods in mind, I'd get the MIA. Dig that badass bridge though.

I measured the neck pocket(without taking off the neck). It is about 2 5/8" wide and about 3 7/8" deep, starting at the flat part of the body. I hope that gives you a good ballpark figure to work with.
