Mini-disc Recording

Anyone know where I can get mini-disc peripherals? I've been to Radio Shack and Circuit City with no luck. I was given a mini-disc player/recorder and since that's all I have to record with now I'm going to try to find a decent mic to go with it. I know they're kind of out of vogue but until I can scratch up the few hundred dollars to buy a decent recording environment I'm stuck.

Have you tried typing mini disc accessories into a search engine online. I just tried it and got a list of places first had mic's from $15 to $100. As they say in Star Wars... Use Google Luke!!!

My $0.02:

I've used the Sony ECM 719 (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-ECM-719-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1195928886&sr=8-1) with my Mini-Disc recorder since I got it. It's never failed me in terms of recording quality, and it's nice and small and has a clip, so it can go almost anywhere. I think there is a newer version of this microphone now, there's probably a link on that amazon page.

I too have used the ECM 719, I was amazed with the recordings of rehearsals and on stage recordings as well. I have used this mic with my Sony MZ-R700 for years.

I also have an ECM 719 with my HI MD portable. Though I have mostly sent the output of a mixer to the mic input of the MD (with manual gain adjustment) and had great results. You don't need to limit your search to a mic strictly for mini disc.

They have a wide variety of just about any type of mic you could want- including many that are specific to MD and DAT recording (and on many different budgets). I personally use one of their Audio-Technica mini binaural sets for my Sony RH-10. They also have preamps neccesary for recording in high SPL situations (which you plug into the "line-in" rather than "mic in" on your MD recorder). I personally am not too fond of most of the Sony mics, as many are built with a certain degree of bass-rolloff, meant to stop from overloading the pre on MD recorders (which are sensitive to bass frequencies).
