Mission Engineering Switching Expression pedal

Looking for some input on these guys as the website description doesn't go into much detail.

I'm referring to the dual output pedal that has 2 switchable expression outputs.

To switch channels you go all the way toe down to depress the switch (like a wah) right?

Once you switch channels, is the previously activated channel stuck in the all-the-way toe down position, or does it behave like it was unplugged from the pedal you were controlling? In other words, does the Frantabit "see" an unplugged expression pedal, or one that is toe down?
 
I use a Mission Engineering SP-2 into two IE pedals.

It switches when pushing the toe all the way down.

After switching channels, the previous parameter drops down from its highest level (toe all the way) to zero (heel all the way). It is not ideal.

I usually wait for a rest to switch the expression pedal and sweep it back down to heel so it doesn't then jump back when I sweep it down from toe.

Also, I find the sweep of the ME expression pedal to mismatch the desired curve for the effect parameter. For example, when sweeping the frequency on the Xerograph, most of the usable frequency range is near the heel, and a small amount of foot movement corresponds to a large frequency range. At the toe end, the frequency range does not change as rapidly. I have thought about seeing if someone could modify this behavior.

On the positive side, the expression pedals are built like tanks. I may get another (non-dual) ME and not use the channel switching any more.

IIRC Taylor from IE recommends Moog expression pedals for use with the IE pedals, but I have found the Moogs to be considerably more flimsy than the MEs.

Well, I do recommend the Moogs because they are wired properly to work with IE pedals, and they have the range knob, which I feel is critical especially with the Xerograph. As you note, without the range knob you often wind up with most of the sweep towards the heel end (with bass). Also the Xerograph is expecting an expression pot more like 50k to 100k (Moog), and there is internal tapering that takes that into account. With the Mission's 10k pot, the taper is sort of anti-logarithmic.

However, I usually recommend Mission at the same time for people looking for a physically sturdier pedal.

While on the subject, I would also recommend checking out the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]. You can set the taper and sweep with high precision and flexibility, and control multiple units from one expression pedal. It would make a great pair with a standard Mission expression pedal. That would give you all the flexibility and control you need, and a solid, road-ready expression pedal.
 
My plan is to use the Expressionator. I was looking into the switching pedal to have the other other channel control a Line6 M9. It would have to be a custom job though.

I may just go with 2 separate pedals though.
 
iiiiiiii.... have a 2 out Mission on the way. s'posed to be always on outs, so one will control Line6 M-series stuff, one for normal expression pedals.

i had a single out Mission awhile ago. loved the build quality, and using it with an Expressionator (not only the sweep range control but being able to choose the log taper) made it work a charm. solid, SOLID stuff.

let's me run one output into the Expressionator and control 3 IE, Infanem, Strymon, EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE WORLD things, then go out the other output into an M5. at the same time. and it is AWESOME.

i'm happy.
