Mix and match speakers and amps

I have a basic understanding of ohms and wattage, etc. I have been considering changing my amp head to one of the class D amps in an effort to save my back! I have been using the Ampeg 2BRe with a Workingman 2X10 combined with the SVT 1X15. Combined the two cabs equal 4 ohms which gives me the full 450 watts from the head. That much I get. The amp that I was considering was a MarkBass 800 watt head (not sure of the exact model). The two cabs separately are 8 ohms rated for 200 watts RMS. In real life application, is the power of the head going to be to much for the speakers? I do play loud and for long periods of time. Thanks for the advice/help. Relying on the goofballs at the music stores usually results in bad/wrong advice.

Careful opening this box.

After several years of reading many threads of a similar question: better to have more power going into a cab and simply not turn the volume up all the way than to max out the amp -- that may lead to square waves and other sciencey stuff regarding voltages and dangeorous swaveshapes sdggdafds dsf uneless of course you have fjalfkdjff ktkeind of amp pluggedlooking for a certain TONE but as long as yo uahveh tthiss spakers branda dn camb confguration TOOBS4LIFE.

(Yeah. I meant for that to fall apart. Square waves are bad. Your cab will let you know if you're overpowering it by catching on fire and/or farting.)

Have you ever noticed the speakers complaining with your current amp? Is it loud enough?

No. Yes. Relax and don't get louder.
Yes. Yes. Good job not blowing it up. Relax and don't try to get louder.
No. No. Be very careful per previous post.
Yes. No. You need a whole new rig.

I swear, I am gainfully employed and my employer is appropriately investing their resources into me. Oh wait, I'm government.

Oh, I suggest you do the testing without the distraction of you band mates playing along before with.

It might be a bit safer if you get a two channel amp, 1 cab per channel at 8 ohms. That way each gets around half the power of each channels 4 ohm rating.

Like said, just use your ears and listen to your speakers. Your amp is capable of hurting them but as long as you are listening to what you are playing, you'll be fine.

Sounds of distress (farting) do need to be addressed immediately though, not after the next song. Try cutting the bass EQ a bit first and if that doesn't work, then drop the master until the farting sound of your speakers stops.
