Mixing 2 different 2x10....

I have a weird question i guess...

Ive found 2 different 2x10 cabs, one Eden and one ashdown for a great price, they are both 8ohms.

Does anyone else mix different cab makes... or is this just stupid and frowned upon??

The issue with using two different cabs is that they may or may not work well together, and there's no way to predict it. Also be aware that virtually any two cabs together will sound better than either alone. But as to whether a matched A/A rig will work as well as a mixed A/B rig will work as well as a matched B/B rig you can only know by trying all three.

If you can get all the gear in the same room and play it at gig level, while standing 20+ feet away you will be able to tell if the cabs jive. Short of that its a crap shoot (the odds may be against you here as well, are both cabs ported and tuned even remotely close?).

If I had to find a stack on a budget, I would find one 8 Ohm 115 cab that I liked the sound of. Then find another.
