mixing 4 ohm cabs and 8ohm cabs

Okay i know this can be done. some manufacturers say this is "not recomended". but i have a few quations (it's not like im about to go in my room and do this or anything.

the impedence of a 4ohm +8ohm is 2.7 ohms correct?

does doing this stress the cabs more or the amplifier? or bolth?
has anyone ever tryed this. what are the requirements for pulling this off?

My amplifyer is the Crown CE1000 it does 450W per side at 4ohms 560W at 2ohms and 275W8ohms per side. if i wanted to run a4 ohm cab and a 8 ohm cab on one side would this work?ddepend on the cab? what would te output be? is this just something that just should never be done EVER?

theese questions just came from curiosity so any info would be helpfull

On amps not designed for 2ohm operation it would cause overheating to the amp. No damage to speakers.
Is your amp a Crow or a Crown?
Crowns are rated for 2ohms so it would be safe. The 8ohm cab would only receive half the power of the 4 ohm though which might cause an undesireable imbalance.
The better way on that amp would be to run one cab per channel and balance them with the level controls.

BTW welcome to TB. I would suggest making use of the spellcheck and preview post feature. Just trying to be helpful....
