Mixing/Producing Software

I'm looking for an easy to use audio producing software. Any suggestions? I basically want to be able to EQ, compress, and add effects like reverb/delay etc.

I've heard a lot of suggestions so far like Reason, Ableton, Logic, etc..
What do you prefer?

I use Reaper. Very good and very reasonable price. $60 for non or small commercial use. You can download and try it out for free.

+1 for Reaper on PC. Or if you're on a Mac and are just starting out, Garageband comes free with the newer operating systems, and is decent to get your feet wet.

A lot depends on the capability of your workstation (PC or MAC)

They all allow you to record and then edit your recordings...

..which ever one you find easiest to use is the one for you.

Another Reaper user here. I suggest that for whichever one you end up using, check for tutorial videos.

I would also recommend Reaper. It's every bit as good as its vastly more expensive counterparts like Cubase, Logic, etc. I personally can't stand the GUI, but I learned (am learning) on Cubase. As far as I could tell in a month of trying Reaper, there is nothing you can't do that some other program would allow you to. Well, nothing major.
It beats the crap out of garage band IMO, though.

I was using Sonar x1 but moved to Presonus Studio One professional.. It has made my workflow much faster and easier...

I'm also a big Studio One fan. Started with Steinberg, Nuendo, then Pro Tools, but Studio One does it all, and just works really really well. The actual production / mastering part of the software is excellent.

Started on cubasis, moved to ableton, tried pro tools, and now VERY HAPPY with Studio One

Reaper's good, but too few tutorials. I would go with Mixcraft, it is by far the best for the cash, you can get some really good professional results from it.

Download the demos, and see wich one suits you better. All do the job very well. There´s no better DAW than the one that you like, be it Nuendo, Cubase, Pro-tools, Pyramix, Logic....whatever. It´s a long learning curve so be patient.

Now as my personal taste, I favor Nuendo since it´s 1.5 version. I also work on Pro-tools but mainly because it´s an industry standard.
