Mixing question

Last show my band played, the sound guy offered to make us a recording of the show for $20. It turned out sounding pretty good, my only problem is you can't hear the guitar very well.
Drums, bass, and vocals are all perfect but guitar is just not loud enough... the bad part is he gave it to us in 1 track.
I know there's not much you can do when it's already on 1 track I just thought maybe someone would know a trick or application I could use to boost the guitar a little...

Not much you can do except play with a parametric eq and try to tease out the guitar. The overall sound will likely suffer quite a bit in the process though. Tell your guitar player to turn down on stage next time and the sound guy will put more of him in the mains which is where I bet that mix came from. Board mixes usually come out pretty bad from my experience, sounds like you got a good guy to work with.

If you have some sort of multitrack software create 2 tracks and put a copy of the recording on track 1 and another copy on track 2.

On the track 2 copy, EQ out a lot of the low lows and low mids. Basically EQ it to 'favor' the guitar then see if you can mix it in with the other track to make the guitar appear more prominent. Since the guitar and vocals will share a lot of the same frequencies the EQing you do to track 2 will probably also have an impact on the vocals, but that could work out OK for you.
