Mixing software

I have a friend who is looking to get some mixing software for Dj style mixing, using existing tracks and loops.

He is using a PC and I am unsure of his technical level. It doesn't need to be pro level software.

Any suggestions?

Ableton Live is quite popular, they make a lite version that's easy on the wallet. If he wants to do more traditional DJ work, Native Instruments has Traktor (which has a free lite version). There's all kinds of stuff out there, check out lots of demos. Personally, I like Albeton Live for remix work and general loop based composition/mahem.

Yes, for mixing/remixing of loop-based music: Ableton Live is it. For more complex composition work, look at Logic (but you need a Mac for that). --Kent
