MLB Playoffs, 2010

Giants "youthful 3" are stacking up pretty well against Phillies "Big 3". And Rangers are doing a nice job of upsetting the Yanks.
Still a lot of baseball to be played.
Great games today.

Texas is making the Yankees look like a little league team. I was thinking the Yanks would take them in 5 games, but now I'm thinking they're going to be watching the World Series from home. :(

If you took the logos off the uniforms you would swear the team with the 3-1 series lead is the team with the $200M payroll.

I'm so proud of my guys.....

Well, my concerns with the Philles' offense were obviously justified considering the lackluster performance yesterday. In fact, they haven't hit all that well throughout the postseason, apart from game two of the NLCS. If they don't wake up today, it might be over, despite the Phils having their "Big Three" for the final three games.

I was obviously wrong about Texas. They are playing fantastic baseball, the way it's supposed to be played, and I'm darned impressed they can dominate in The Bronx. I've enjoyed watching their approach, and I won't be surprised if they close it out today.

Eh...you've gotta give some props to the Giants rotation. Their staff has been clutch for the last two months. I've had a front seat to seeing them go out game after game as they caught up and surpassed my Padres in the standings.

He doesn't have to give props, he's from Philly :D

Great, nailbiter of a game tonight. Giants are used to tortuous baseball games though.
Halladay vs. Lincecum tomorrow - Doc vs. Freak! Two excellent pitchers, both give their teams a chance to win it.

So the Yankees are only a game away from watching the World Series, and I couldn't be happier. This is one of the few times I'll willingly root for an AL team, mostly because the Phillies and Giants are top 5 on my least favorites list.

And the Gigiantes win! David beats Goliath!
And they do it in classic "Torture" style - in the 9th, with Wilson, having walked 2 batters (winning run for Phillies on 1st base), striking out slugger Ryan Howard.

How 'bout them Giants? I bet nobody saw that coming. Made out like gypsies, smooth and slick. They were on nobody's radar. And nobody gave them a chance in ... you know what I mean. Texas was only shut out once this whole season. The giants have done it to them so far in four games, TWICE. Although Texas has great sluggers, pitching is the name of the game. Usually good pitching trumps good hitting. If a team has to see closer Brian Wilson, it's usually a done deal. If Los Angeles broadcaster Chick Hearn were still alive, he would say: "It's in the refrigerator..." It's like the Giants are saying to the Rangers, What's my name? Say it again! louder! Before I back hand you with another shut out!
