Sterile and dead? That's nonsense. Ceramics sound brighter and punchier. AlNiCo is softer and has less top end, which makes it sound warmer, but you can warm up a ceramic pickup, but not brighten an AlNiCo.

I find ceramic to be better for bass, unless you are going for a "vintage" (i.e. dull) tone. A LOT of pickups out there use ceramics, like Alembic, Bartolini, DiMarzio, EMG, etc. I think the ceramic MM pickups sound better.

I use only ceramics and neodymium magnets in my pickups. AlNiCo's sound muffled and mushy to me.

Aggressive? Ceramic. Neo are even more aggressive. Lots of growl and bite. The reason is that the magnetic field is harder on these than on AlNiCo's, so you have more energy coming from the pickup, and the highs are the first thing that gets trapped by the impedance, so the extra juice helps the highs punch through. AlNiCo's also raise the inductance up a bit, which can dull the tone. But it all depends on the design of the pickup.

yeah i don´t think thats a good idea....i´m trying harder with my 4.2 nordstrand i´m getting a better sound but it´s still not a delano alnico hi-fi sound the pickup still sound with a little vintage vibe maeby is the winding

if you're looking for the " delano alnico hi-fi sound " just buy yourself a delano alnico hi-fi pickup..... HELLOOOOO....
