MM SUB input jack

For the longest time my MM SUB has had the problem of the touchy input jack. Whenever I plug in the cable, I have to move it around until I can get some output that isn't screaching. I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix it, and if it is possible to fix it without going into a shop and having it fixed (I have a decent amount of soldering experience).

You can still clean the jack, and with a long narrow tool you can still get at the tip sleeve if it's too loose. Remove the control plate and work on it from both ends.

It's a switching jack. It turns the preamp on when the cable is inserted. I've bought my replacements direct from Musicman.

Ya I am going to give that a go when I get back home. I lifted he control plate once, and was like hellz no I am not touching this. But my bass teacher said it is a common thing that happens to SUBs. Sucks that I waited so long to fix it, could never play live shows with it.
