Should I or should I not mod my Squire VM?

Full disclosure: Not long ago I posted on my complete man love for my squire VM fretless and how I was reticent to mod it for fear of losing the tone I had.

But then I grabbed some '75 ri jazz pups and i'm on the fence.

Weigh in with whatever you want. My plan is to add the pups and an audere. I think it will sound like love.

Am I wrong? Should I leave a good thing alone?

Swapping pickups is not irreversible. Wanna try it? Do it. If you don't like it, swap them back. What'll is take you, an hour or so? But something you should think about - record the tone before and after, adjust the pickups as close to the same height from the strings and it may help you make a more objective comparison.

Gotta tell you though, IMO there's nothing magic about 75 pups. That's a time period where Fender was real hit or miss with their quality (mostly miss).......
And before someone tears into me for blasphemy - I owned (bought new) a Jazz, P-Bass and Telebass for around that era. The Tele was the only one without serious production quality issues.
