Mod - Turning my Power Cable into A Detachable One -Ampeg V4

I'd do it, might make a couple vintage gear snobs cry, but it makes it more functional, safe and convenient. Does the amp sit behind a glass case or do you play through it? 
play through it! yay!!!!!! its actually new ( i picked it up from la recently) but yeah......i think it may be safer ha.
Because double ended power cord is not to code anywhere on this planet.
Somebody will plug it in and take the other end and stick it in their mouth and their head will explode.

Aux Power outlet, I couldn't plug in my DISCO MIRROR BALL if there wasn't an Aux power outlet. I would be lost.

I'm not a fan of invasive, irreversible mods. They aren't necessarily wrong, just potentially regrettable. A lot of guys did a lot of mods to old Fenders and Marshalls back in the 80's... things that probably seemed like a good idea at the time but now they just make you shake your head. Once you cut a hole in that chassis you can never put it back.
So for me personally, I'd just replace that cord with a new one. Get a nice heavy duty cord and a new strain relief and that amp will be good for another thirty years. I don't see any great advantage in a removable cord anyway. I've owned heads with fixed cords and detachable cords and each has advantages and disadvantages. It's "six of one; half dozen of the other" as far as I'm concerned.
One other thing to consider: A new power cord and strain relief is a quick straightforward job for your tech. Drilling and installing an IEC connector will take considerably longer and, hence, be more expensive.
Anyway, your amp; your choice. Do what you want. I'm a part time amp builder and sometime amp tech and I just wanted to weigh in with my perspective. After many years of poking around in old amp chassis, I can't think of any invasive mod I've seen where I've said "yeah, the amp is better because of that."

Reminds me of a true story:
Once upon a time a tech (not me
) was doing a batch of 100 or so 240V extension cords for a sound company he worked for. He had cut them to specific lenghts to accomodate the trusses and had the ends on the table. After a while the male > female > test > another one sequence tired him up and he decided to build them in batches of 10... 10 male plugs > 10 female plugs > 10 tests. Needless to say there was one lesbian and one gay in the batch. Now the lesbian wasn't a problem, he didn't even notice that at first, but the gay one, that gave him a pretty hefty jolt. He promptly returned to the "male > female > test" procedure after that.
