Modded Affinity P bass or Stock SX Pbass

I put together a parts P bass that has become my main gigging bass, and I'm quite sure the body is from a Squier (probably an Affinity series) that a local shop had stripped down for sale because it arrived with neck issues. Everything else is decidedly non-stock as I've got a fender p neck on it (mighty-mite), some quarter pounders, a new bridge, rewired with cts pots, etc... but the body is a nice light platform for all of that. You might be better off buying the squier with the nice pups, and then swapping out a bit here and there.

I bought them 2nd hand, and so I'm pretty sure it's not their original cover. Underneath there they've got the big 1/4 inch magnets. I've been thinking of getting a new set of covers and drilling them out to fit.

I'm not much of a P-bass kind of guy - Jazzes suit me better. I have 3 SX jazzes & 3 Squier Affinity jazzes. I'm slowly selling off the Affinity basses. I find the SX build quality to be much more solid feeling, and I dig tone from my SX jazzes more than my 2008 MIA jazz. If there is one shortcoming in the SX basses, it would be the fretwork is sometimes hit-n-miss. To get the ultimate in playability, you may need a good fret level, but that can be said about any bass. If you figure in another $75 or so (in case a fret-level is necessary), you'd have one outstanding bass in the SX.

Buy the Affinity, keep the pickup (and the pickguard, if you like pearloid), sell the rest on the 'Bay to recoup your $75 and buy the SX. Throw the pickup in the SX (and the pickguard if you want) and you're good.

Jimmy, that's one nice P you got there. I love that combo.

That's what i did with my frist SX jazz, swapped the white guard for tort, and ended up with a black/tort/maple jazz.
